Smart Time of Day is the name of the 1:1 Experience feature found inside Activities and Lifecycles that allow us to make use of the Optimal Time of the Day Player Feature. By switching this on we can make our player engagement smarter. Send-out times will be decided by the Singularity Model at each individual player's preferred time.
πŸ’‘ Example
Rather than sending an offer at 15:00 UTC, to all players in your Segment, use Smart Time of Day to send the offer at the most optimal time for each player in the Segment.
The Singularity Model will determine when your players will receive the communication, depending on the class they belong to from the Optimal Time of the Day Player Feature.
If they are classified as 16:00 UTC, for example, they will receive the offer at 16:00 UTC.

⏰ Optimal Time of the Day

Optimal Time of the Day is the Player Feature that comes as part of the Singularity Model and that uses the Time of Day Feature Type.
Therefore, unless you create your own Player Features, this will be the only option to select when Smart Time of Day is switched on inside an Activity.
🧠 Create your own Player Features
As long as the connected feature type is Time of Day, you are free to create your own Player Features to define when would be the most optimal time.
Any Player Features that are connected to Time of Day will also be found to use inside your player engagement when 1:1 Experiences has been switched on.
Some alternative definitions of optimal time that you might want to use to create your own Time of Day Player Features;
  1. The time range with the highest deposit count
  2. The time range with the highest response or engagement
  3. Looking at previous player deposits or login times

πŸš€ How to Use Smart Time of Day

It is possible to apply the Smart Time of Day feature to several areas of your player engagement (where time triggers are used);

Specific Date & Time Activities

By default, when selecting a Specific Date and Time Activity type, Smart Time of Day will be switched on.

Simply enter the date of when you want to send your Activity, and since Optimal Time of the Dy is pre-selected, you're already set. (All available Player Features using Time of Day will appear in the dropdown list, should you wish to select another one).
Use the toggle to switch the Smart Time of Day on/off.
Hover over the Singularity Icon for the Toggle to appear.
Hover over the Singularity Icon for the Toggle to appear.
The Activity will be fired to players inside the Segment at their assigned time range class.
For example, if Player A is assigned to the 06:00 UTC class, they will receive the communication at 06:00 UTC.

Recurring/Automated Activities

You can take advantage of Smart Time of Day when setting up a Recurring/Automated Activity, as long as you are using a time trigger.
Select the Starting From and Ending On date and time from the picker in the Firing Conditions. These settings determine the date and time when the Activity can fire.

πŸ•’ Make sure to cover all Time Zones!
In order to make sure all Time Zones are included you need to set the dates to include at least one day before and one day after.
For this example we want our campaign to trigger every Friday for a year. For this, as shown in the example above, we've set the in-between dates to also cover the day before and the day after to cater for all time zones.
Next, add a time trigger. Select an already created trigger (with the correct setup as mentioned next) or create a new Time Event Trigger and switch on Smart Time of Day and select the Player Feature.
Configure the trigger conditions with any other desired conditions. For example; WeekDay equals Friday.
Do not configure the time settings, such as hours or minutes. The time element of the event will be handled by the Singularity feature instead.

Every Friday @ Optimal Time of the Day
In the example above, the Activity is set to fire every Friday between 14th April 2023 - 19th April 2024.
The Activity will fire every Friday in accordance with the set dates and it will be fired to the relevant players in the time classification.
🧠 It is not possible to select an existing trigger and then switch on the Smart Time of Day feature from inside an Activity.
You will need to create new Triggers with Smart Time of Day switched on from inside an Activity, or reuse existing Triggers that already have Smart Time of Day switched on.

Lifecycles

Smart Time of Day can be applied to the Entry Conditions of a Lifecycle in the same way we apply to Activities;

Specific Date and Time Lifecycle

Select a Lifecycle Template of your choice --> STD (Specific Date and Time) Type of Trigger --> Pick the date --> Toggle on Smart Time of Day--> Optimal Time of the Day.

Custom Events

When adding custom during and Ending Events inside a Lifecycle, you can apply Smart Time of Day when using a Time Trigger.

Scheduled Actions

Apply Smart Time of Day to scheduled Actions to be able to target players with a follow-up Action sent at their preferred time.
When scheduling the action, create or apply a time trigger that has Smart Time of Day applied to it, in the same way as you set a trigger for the main Activity. The Singularity Model will power the trigger to take care of the send-out time, as per each player's preferred time.

πŸ’‘ Note: When a Scheduled Action has a trigger with the Smart Time of Day feature applied, you won’t have the option to set the validity period to β€œhours”.
The minimum validity would be set in days, with 1 day as the minimum. This is because the player feature is looking at time periods throughout one full day.
Please think twice about the validity time you set for the Scheduled Action, as if the validity is not set long enough, some players might not receive the Action.
