Add to Lifecycle Action
Use the Add to Lifecycle action to add players into Lifecycles that are already in production.
In the event that you want to add a player or a group of players into a live Lifecycle version, without disturbing the flow of the lifecycle, you can do so with the use of the add to Lifecycle action from inside an Activity.
๐ค Why add Players to a Lifecycle?
You might be wondering why you would need to add players into a lifecycle?
There are plenty of reasons why you might have missed/excluded part of your segment from entering the lifecycle. If some of the segment is missing, and the lifecycle has otherwise been set up correctly, QA'd and pushed to production, it would be best practice to add players manually into the lifecycle rather than stopping the lifecycle.
Disturbing the flow of a Lifecycle in production is not recommended unless you wish to stop new players from entering and/or to stop all events inside the Lifecycle from triggering.
Removing Players from a Lifecycle: It is possible to manually remove players from a Lifecycle. Read more about how to remove players here.
โ Using the Add to Lifecycle Action
We can add players to a lifecycle version in production by setting up an activity and using the Add to Lifecycle action. Follow the step below to do so.
โกโ Trigger
Most often for this purpose, you will want to set up a Specific Date and Time activity. This will allow you to determine the exact time and date that the activity should fire, and when the players should be added to the Lifecycle.
Select the Specific Date and Time type of activity and enter the desired date and time from the date picker, as in the example above.
๐ฅ Segment
Next, select the segment of players that you wish to be added to the Lifecycle.
You can do this by manually adding the User ID of the players you want to target, or you may prefer to upload a segment of players.
๐ฌ Action
Add a new action group (Action Group A) to the activity and add the Add to Lifecycle action into Action Group A.
In the Action Data, select the lifecycle and version that you wish to add players into. In the example below, you can see the Lifecycle name is NRC - NDC, All Players and the selected version is Version 1.
๐ง Note: Only Lifecycle versions that are in production will be available in the action data drop down list.
Finally, you can quality assure and schedule the activity as usual.
What happens Next?
Adding players to the Lifecycle using the this action type will override the entry conditions of the lifecycle and add the player(s) from the activity segment into the lifecycle.
Added players will start their journey inside the Lifecycle from the beginning. However, if any of the lifecycle triggers have passed (a specific date/time), the events will not be triggered.
๐ง Note: If you accidentally add a player into a Lifecycle that they already belong to, they will continue their journey as before and will not be added to the beginning again.
A player can only exist once in the lifecycle
